Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel dismissed reports that the Constituent Assembly elections would be deferred. He claimed that the Constituent Assembly elections would be held on the slated date. Speaking at an interaction in Tanahun today, he said that the elections must be held within the stipulated date to guarantee people's rights. Claiming that the environment for the polls has been conducive, he added that holding the CA elections was the only option to end the current stalemate. Poudel held the Unified CPN-Maoist responsible for the failure to draft the constitution while alleging the party of trying to capture the state power. Congress leader Poudel claimed that the new constitution would be promulgated adding that his party would garner majority in the upcoming polls.
