Preparations for the 8th SAFF Football Championship completed

Preparations for the 8th SAFF Football Championship set to commence in Kathmandu from Saturday have been complete. The All Nepal Football Association informed that all works at the Dashrath Stadium and the Halchowk grounds have been finalized. Ten games will be held at the Dasrath Stadium while 5 matches will be held at the Halchowk Ground. The winning team will receive a cash prize of 50 thousand US dollars while the runner up will get 25 thousand US dollars. Similarly, teams reaching the semi-finals will receive 10 thousand US dollars each. ANFA President Ganesh Thapa informed that South Asian Football Association has provided 400 thousand US dollars while Nepal government has provided 60 lakh rupees to ANFA for the championship. Eight South Asian countries will participate in the tournament. In Group A, there are Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, while in Group B, there are Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
