Leaders of various political parties called late Marich Man Shrestha as an honest leader and a true nationalist.
Speaking at a program on the occasion of the 13th memorial meeting in the capital, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya said Shrestha was a true nationalist. He said that the multi-party system took a revenge on Shrestha merely because he was the Prime Minister of the Panchayat regime. CPN-UML leader K P Oli accused the government of not facilitating Shrestha's treatment when he was in the death-bed. Oli came down heavily on the government of failing to give state honor after his death.
Likewise, RPP-Nepal Chairman Kama Thapa, RPP Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa, Unified CPN-Maoist leader Amik Sherchan, Congress leader Minendra Rizal, among others lauded Shrestha's contribution to the nation when Nepal was in crisis.
