'Parties should refrain from anti-election activities for timely polls'-Regmi

Chairman of Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi has urged political parties to refrain from carrying out anti-election activities. He called on all parties to make sure that they are not involved in doing activities that would spoil the environment for elections. Inaugurating the Fifth Convention of the Community Radio Broadcasting Association in the capital on Sunday,, Regmi said that the parties should respect the people's rights to draft the constitution from the Constituent Assembly. He also reiterated the government's position to hold talks with the dissident parties to create an environment that is conducive for holding the elections. Stating that the government has been preparing to make the CA election free and fair, he said support of political parties and people was needed for the same. Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Communications, Madhav Prasad Poudel, stressed that the community radios should be active for creating awareness to people about the upcoming CA election. President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Shiva Gaunle, Chairman of the Media Society, Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Television Broadcasting Association, RK Manandhar among others had put forth their opinions. A book entitled ´Janajeevan´ was also made public amidst a function.
